2 Hounds Design
I put in an order for two collars from 2 Hounds Design today. Sammy is getting the Lavender Pinwheel collar, and Motley is getting the Purple Blocks collar. Sammy’s collar is handmade of silk brocade, and Motley’s is handmade of 100% silk from England. Honestly, I can’t believe I just spent almost $100 on two collars!!! Now my girls can go to dog events in style!

The Girls are Learning to Share
So far Sammy and Motley get a long great. There have been a couple of altercations between them regarding high value treats (like bones and bully sticks) and special toys (particularly the squeaky egg toys). Although I’ve been keeping a close eye on them, these minor altercations seem to happen in the corner of my eye, making it difficult to tell who started it. Sammy does great with other...

New Puppy
So last Friday my co-workers showed me an ad someone had put on the bulletin board at work. It was a “free to good home” ad for a nine month old Australian Shepherd. I didn’t think I would adopt another dog, but I wondered what the puppy looked like and why they were trying to find it a new home. I took the ad down and went out to my car to make a phone call. A woman answered. We...

Terribly Tragic
Good thing I was heading to work earlier than usual on a Sunday morning. I saved a pair of geese from a gruesome death on the side of a busy road. They were just going to walk right out into the middle of traffic and ask for trouble.

All Tied Up
So today I saw a child who was being walked on a leash. This isn’t a topic I have ranted about on my blog, and think it’s an interesting topic to discuss. I absolutely loath these child leashes. I never had to be leashed, nor did generations before me. I find it rather revolting to put a leash on a human being, child or not. I hardly even leash my dog. I’ve argued about this...

Robbed by a Waitress
Yep, you read right. I went out for lunch with a couple of co-workers and had a bill of $9.01. I happened to have had a ten dollar bill in my wallet and decided to use it, along with a penny. When the waitress returned with my co-workers’ receipts and change, I realized she never brought any change back for me. The waitress ended up keeping my one dollar bill of change. I kind of felt bad...

Still Naming the Hedgie
So I can’t remember if I had posted about it on my personal blog or not, but I adopted a hedgehog two weeks ago. I’m still trying to decide on a name for him. I wanted to call him Tungsten, but too many co-workers didn’t like the name. I then chose Zuri, which is Swahili for handsome, since he is an African Pygmy Hedgehog. Several co-workers had their own ideas as for what I...

Bullying the Bully Breeds
As we all know, bully breeds have a bad rap. It’s not their fault, but the ignorant individuals who own them. There are certain people who should not have a pit bull, or any bully breed in my opinion. They are overly backyard bred, and the population pours into shelters and SPCA facilities. Thousands are euthanized on a daily basis due to the lack of homes willing to accept them. Who can...

Lost and Found
So today at work a co-worker found a one hundred dollar bill laying on the floor. He came up to my register with two of our other co-workers to see if it was real or a counter fit. I let them use one of the highlighters at my register, but it was obviously a real bill. I was disappointed to find that he was going to keep the money without turning it into management. I used to have a sort of...

Cooper the Australian Shepherd
Today at work I ran into an Australian Shepherd puppy. I asked the couple if they had taken him to Downtown Hampton for this past Saturday bloc party. Come to find out, it was the same puppy I had seen the other night when I had brought Sammy to the bloc party for the first time. The puppy, who’s name is Cooper, was adorable. They said Cooper didn’t do very well in that setting because...

Bloc Party
Every Summer my fiance and I go to Saturday night bloc parties in Downtown Hampton. They start sometime in April and stop a week or two into September. Every Saturday night the bloc party is from 6:00PM to 10:30PM. There is live music, dancing, alcohol, it’s pet friendly, and there is a alcohol-free children’s zone. The street, Queens Way, is in the heart of Downtown and is lined by...

Predicaments
Today was pretty crazy. I’m not sure if it was a good crazy, or a bad crazy. All I know is that first thing this afternoon I had to write a statement about the event that occurred yesterday between a customer and my co-worker. Her job was basically on the line, and of all things, I had to write a statement about what I witnessed. No pressure, right? The managers told me not to discuss the...

Lack of Justice
So no matter what, there always seems to be something going down at work. I spend most of my time at work these days so I guess it only makes sense for it to be the primary source of drama in my life. Today was especially amusing when a gentleman came into the store to exchange an extra large dog crate. He said he had only had it for a few days. While he was shopping for his new crate, a co-worker...

Doctor's Appointment
So yesterday I made an appointment for Monday to see my family practitioner. I’m a few days ahead of schedule. I got up this morning in so much pain that I had to see if she had any availability today. The clerk said I could come in whenever I wanted so I left as soon as I got off of the phone. Better to get this over with than to wait until Monday. I don’t think I could go to work in...

Bad Customer Service
Talk about annoying. My blood was boiling today at the meeting. The customer service manager came in today to discuss good customer service with my co-workers and I. The only reason she came in in the first place was because I had emailed her for a completely off-topic reason. I’ve been working at this store since November and should have met her months ago! After today’s training, I...

Smart Dog
Sammy is learning to “speak” on command. :) She still needs a lot of work, but she’s starting to understand better every time we work on it. When I first tried to get Sammy to bark, I had to figure out what would trigger her to do it. She normally barks only when there are strangers on our property, or outside of the front door. Sometimes she barks when she’s excited and...

I Don't Want to Admit It...
For nearly a week I wondered why, and how, I was sleeping through my alarm every single morning. Was I staying up too late? Was I was really exhausted? I would wake up to Nathan kissing me on the cheek before leaving for work, but how the hell was I sleeping through my alarm clock every morning? It just didn’t make sense. Even if I was really tired, I’m sure I would have at least woken...

Home Alone
So today my fiancé had to go out of town with his boss. It wasn’t really a planned trip, so he left without a change of clothes or anything. It’s always sad to come home to an empty house. I mean, I still have Sammy to protect me, but I always miss Nate when he has to go on business trips. It’s good that he gets to go on these trips though. I think it’s beneficial to his...

Sammy's Birthday
So I’m not entirely sure when Sammy was born, but I think it was sometime in June or July… For some reason I want to say June 7th. Whatever. I’ve decided that’s going to be the day we celebrate her life. Sammy is (or at least, about to be) two years old! To celebrate, I bought her the new indoor Chuckit, and a matching collar and leash by Lupine. Tomorrow she is going to...

Abused Cat Dies Today
So this morning my dad informed me that a twelve year old child had beat and tortured a cat. Apparently it was on the news. The cat had to be put into a full body cast. Unfortunately, he died today… It really pisses me off that anyone, including a child, would ever think it’s alright to torture a helpless animal. Where the hell were his parents? It is really frustrating to think of the...

Rats for a Day
Eli and Quinn, my two rescued male rats, got to spend the day with me at work. I brought them in a medium Super Pet cage along with their hut to cuddle in. My co-workers got to interact with them a bit, but for the most part I partially covered their cage with the fleece blanket I had brought and let them sleep while I worked on the register. I wish I could bring my dog to work the way I can bring...

Playing Rift Online
So Nate got me into playing Rift. So far it seems like a nice break from the World of Warcraft, which I also haven’t played in awhile. We are on the Deepstrike PVP server on Rift, and I’m trying to choose between a Cleric and a Rogue. I think I might give a review on the game once I’ve played it for a bit. I will probably play my Cleric with name, as a full healing class, and...

Game of Thrones
I’m addicted to this new HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” It is absolutely fantastic! Basically the Game of Thrones is about kings, queens, knights, and other renegades scheming to take over the throne of the mythical land of Westeros. The Game of Thrones is based off of a series of epic fantasy novels by American author George Martin. So far my favorite characters are Jon Snow,...

A Relaxing Evening
Nate and I drove out to the Texas Roadhouse. Their food is so yummy. I had a couple of margaritas. I don’t really drink much, but once in awhile I do. It was nice to go out and spend the evening with my fiance. It was pretty relaxing. I felt like I needed the break… We had a good time. :)

Accidentally Self Inflicted
So I don’t know what it is but I’ve been feeling this weird bruise-like pain on the inner part of my right eye, alongside the upper bridge of my nose… I think I smacked myself in the forehead the other night. I vaguely remember reaching over to the nightstand and grabbing the cord to my phone, and I’m pretty sure it swung and hit me right in the face while I was half...

The Tales of Rescued Ratties
The rat I had blogged about before is doing great. I actually now have two males, both were rescued from life-threatening situations. I made a separate blog for my rats where I can write about things I’ve learned since taking them in. Having rats as pets is definitely a new experience to me, and the journey so far is an amazing one. You can take a look at the blog here. Beware: I make things...

An Abandoned Rat
So today at work, a woman came in with a little black rat. He was very sweet and friendly as I picked him up and let him cuddle in my arm. The woman is a frequent shopper at the family-owned pet supply store I work at. A week ago she had told me that she had found two male rats in the parking lot of Lowe’s Home Improvement store. They were each in little clear plastic critter keepers. She...

Another Death in the Family
Today my great grandmother died. I’m not really sad because I didn’t know her very well. I’m sympathetic to my father, as she was his mother, but I don’t feel very effected by her death. My dad is still having it rough after mom’s death and this will only add to his stress levels. I hope he’ll be alright. For me, I’ve gotta worry about finishing my...

As Usual
So work has been busy as usual. I special ordered a single-level Critter Nation in preparation for my future hedgie baby. It will need some modifications in order to make it safe for a hedgehog, but I look forward to putting it together… Sammy hasn’t been to the park since the last time I talked about it. I haven’t really had the time, though I feel horrible for not trying to...

Finally, Some Freedom
So today we finally had a chance to get out to the dog park, which is great after Sammy got into that whole loaf of bread… Time to burn calories, pup! It was just us for the first half hour, so we played a little bit of fetch. Then Luna, a nearly one year old female Husky came along to play. Luna plays a little rough with the dogs at the park, but she’s doing better and better with...

Bad Dog, Bad!
Not that I ever call Sammy a bad dog… but tonight I got home from work and found that she had gotten into a whole brand new loaf of bread… Not only have I not had a single chance to get her out of the house in two weeks, but having gotten into that entire loaf of bread is not going to help her weight! I can definitely see that she is getting a little wide… chubby cattle dog!...

Why is Every Day a Bad Day?
The day is what we make it, whether we choose to make it a good one or a bad one. To make a long story short, my day started off pretty great, but ended horrendously. I was in an incredible mood when work started, but by the end of the night, I was barely holding on to my sanity. I hadn’t been given a chance to take my lunch break, so I was hungry, tired of standing around at the register,...

Making Due
I’m sitting outside of class, sipping a pomegranate smoothie while I wait to go in. I have so much homework due… There are about four or five chapters I haven’t completed on the MyMathLab website. Which means I have probably more than 100 problems that need to be solved. I need to buckle down and try to do them tonight after work. It’s just been hard to focus on my homework...

We Are Not Alone
It’s funny. After I posted about the accident today, I felt kind of ashamed for putting my family drama out there for all to see. Like I don’t have anything better to blog about but how shitty my life seems to get every single day. Maybe that’s why I don’t blog so much anymore. Ever since my mom died, there’s just never any happiness. Everything is stressful now. My...

Just My Luck...
So today sucked. Big time. It all started this morning - wait, scratch that - it started last night when I pulled into the driveway after work. It was around 10:00pm. In the driveway there was a white Ford F150 parked in my spot. My good day suddenly transformed into a bad night when I realized who the vehicle belonged to. My aunt Carrie… Carrie was recently arrested for attacking her...

Everyone is M.I.A.
Another Monday rolls around and I get a call at 7:25 in the morning. It’s the assistant manager. She says everyone called out and she needs me there as soon as possible. Except “soon as possible” is going to be in about five hours for me… I feel kind of bad, but classes come before work! I can’t just not go to class when it means so much to me, but at the same time...

Ridgway Bark Park
So I realized I have never really blogged about Ridgway! Once a week Sammy and I get to visit the park where we’ve made so many four-legged friends! I’m actually surprised that I haven’t made any entries about the dog’s we’ve met, since they each have their own individual personalities. They are all amazing dogs, though! Let’s begin with Sammy, the star of my...

Time is Running Out
There’s just no time for life anymore. And it’s not even just free time that I lack, but study time and class time in general. My photography courses require me to get out in the field and photograph various things for the portfolios that we have to submit. I can’t really do that when I work all day and go to class all morning! It’s just been stressful lately trying to find...

Sammy Learns, "Roll Over"
So tonight I introduced Sammy to the “roll over” command while working towards improving her “down” command. I didn’t think she would catch on so quickly, but again she surprised me! To me, she seemed to really want to understand what I was commanding. It may have been a little frustrating for her, but she didn’t really show it! It’s sad to say my dog is...
