Bad Dog, Bad!
Not that I ever call Sammy a bad dog… but tonight I got home from work and found that she had gotten into a whole brand new loaf of bread… Not only have I not had a single chance to get her out of the house in two weeks, but having gotten into that entire loaf of bread is not going to help her weight! I can definitely see that she is getting a little wide… chubby cattle dog! She’s been at a perfect weight up until February. I’m hoping that next week I can get her out more since classes are closed for Spring Break. My work schedule is still set up as if there was no Spring Break, which is good because it gives me more time in the morning on Monday and Wednesday to get Sammy out on a nice long walk. It would be good for the both of us! I really miss going for walks at the park. I’m hoping that when classes are done with, we will have the chance to get out more and start going back to those trails. I know Sammy would be happy! I’m wondering if I should only take maybe one or two courses over the Summer… or maybe I can just cut my hours at work, and not even take a class over the Summer. I could always wait until the Fall semester… although I was planning on doing public speaking with the same professor I had in November before I dropped all my courses. She was a great teacher! I guess we’ll have to see… I have a few more weeks to make that decision.
Anyway, back to the subject of the matter! Sammy ate that whole loaf of bread that I had just bought a few days ago, and I wasn’t able to make a sandwich! That’s the second loaf of bread she has gotten into within a few months! I don’t even know how she managed to get the second loaf. I’m going to have to put the next loaf into a bread box and lock it… Sneaky dog! I’ve got to watch her weight so tubby doesn’t have joint problems, or other health issues associated with excessive weight. The last thing I ever want to think of is K-9 weight loss… Silliest thing I’ve ever seen; Weight Loss System for Dogs by Hill’s Science Diet. As if it’s not bad enough that I’m over weight. I don’t want my dog to suffer the same problem! She’s definitely getting lazy though. Usually she’ll do anything to play fetch, but now she only brings the ball halfway back before dropping it on the ground. I don’t want her to get a habit of this so we’re going to relearn the correct way to play fetch. I know I’ve been busy with work and classes, and neglecting her need to get out… but if I could take her with me wherever I go, I would do it in a heartbeat! I’d love to bring Sammy to work with me, or have her lay by my feet during class haha! I really ought to bring her to daycare at work, but then I will never be able to contribute to the savings that Nate and I are supposed to be saving for our first apartment… I guess it comes down to what’s more important? The dog or the fiance? Now that’s just not fair…
